South Florida resident Eric Karman, a former employee of the underwater tourism company at the center of the recent submersible disappearance, has come forward to express his reaction and shed light on the safety procedures within the industry. Karman, who now ventures out to the water on a boat, used to pilot a research-based Ocean Gate submarine back in 2010. He reflected on the time he spent with the company. “If it wasn’t for them moving back to Washington, I wouldn’t have ever left,” he said, “But I did know what I was signing up for, dove pretty deep, so I knew the dangers associated with that.”A different submersible has become the focus of a massive international search effort. Karman emphasized the significant difference in diving depths between his former vessel and the one currently missing. “Our depth ceiling was 1500 feet,” he recalled. “They’re diving at deeper depths on the Titanic, I believe it’s 12,00...NASA spacecraft captures image of ghostly lightning on Jupiter

(CNN) — A NASA spacecraft captured the eerie glow of lightning inside a swirling vortex on Jupiter. The green lightning bolt was seen inside one of the many vortices that cluster near Jupiter’s north pole.Scientists are still trying to understand many facets of Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, including its massive storms and how lightning and lightning-like events occur on the gas giant.Lightning bolts originate from water clouds on Earth, and most of the strikes occur near the equator. But on Jupiter, the strikes emerge from clouds that are the result of ammonia and water, and they occur most frequently near the planet’s poles. The Juno spacecraft, which first arrived to observe Jupiter and its moons in 2016, captured the event during its 31st close flyby of the gas giant on December 30, 2020. The mission was about 19,900 miles (32,000 kilometers) above the cloud tops when it took the image.Using raw data from the spacecraft’s JunoCam instrument, citizen scientist Ke...Trump: I was too busy to sort through the boxes I took to Mar-a-Lago

Donald Trump on Monday said he did not hand over government records to the federal officials when they asked him for it because he was too busy to sift through the boxes of contents. In an interview with Fox News, the former president said that the documents that the National Archives and Records Administration insisted he return were intermingled with personal materials in containers stored at his estate in Mar-a-Lago. He added that he did not have the time to separate the personal from the governmental.“Before I send boxes over,” Trump told host Bret Baier, “I have to take all of my things out. These boxes were interspersed with all sorts of things.”“I was very busy, as you’ve sort of seen,” he explained. The comments from Trump are an admission that he did not move to satisfy the federal government’s demands that he comply with their requests to hand over the documents. It is also the fullest he has addressed the matter since being indicted for his mishandling of those documents, w...Police raid Paris 2024 Olympics HQ in corruption probe

60s coast, 70s inland was the them yesterday as plenty of midday clouds blanketed much of Southern New England. Today, the temp pattern is very similar as highs struggle to get out of the upper 60s at the coast and reach the low 70s inland. From time to time we catch a passing shower as well, although rainfall totals, and time those showers they take up, will be limited. Wednesday looks good as we ring in Summer at 10:57am with partly to mostly sunny skies and comfortable temps. Not quite a hot summer day, but certainly a pretty good afternoon with temps near 70 at the coast, mid to upper 70s inland. Thursday is another step up in the temperature departure as highs head up well into the 70s to near 80 with increasing clouds. It is possible for some showers to get in here late-day/night, but right now I’m leaving the forecast mainly dry during the day. Temps on Friday – Weekend will hover in the lower 80s. You’ll notice a lot more humidity around too with dew points...Emergency crews responding after van strikes utility pole in Wellesley

Democrats have a two-word problem in 2024 and it’s not Joe Biden. The bigger overall headache for the party is Kamala Harris, the inept, inarticulate understudy who stands to become president if Biden can’t serve out a second term.If Biden pulls a switcheroo and doesn’t run for a second term because of his age and health, Harris would be the presumed frontrunner. That’s a big problem.Polls show that Americans have even less confidence in Harris than they do of Biden and that’s saying a lot.Voters are not completely clueless. They see Biden stumbling around on stage and fumbling his words and realize that the president’s chances of making it through a second term at age 86 are not good. That’s why Democrats are planning for Biden to go through the motions of a primary campaign over the next year, to promote his “successes,” shore up his glaring weaknesses and dispatch Robert F.
