With all the hype surrounding Taylor Swift this week, the Vikings were set to host the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs regardless of whether she showed up to U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday afternoon.Never mind the relevance in pop culture. This was simply a chance for the for the Vikings to turn things around after a rough first month.In the end, the Vikings suffered a 27-20 loss to the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs, dropping to 1-4 despite battling tough for a good chunk of the game.As tough as the result was for the Vikings to stomach in real time, the biggest loss was superstar receiver Justin Jefferson, who left the game with a hamstring injury and did not return. While it will mainly be a dry front, areas to our northeast could see some sprinkles as the front attempts to squeeze any leftover atmospheric moisture.For the rest of us, overnight lows will drop into the 40s under partly cloudy and mostly clear skies. 17-year-old killed in Gravois Park shooting

ST. LOUIS – A 17-year-old is dead following a shooting in the Gravois Park neighborhood.Police were called to the intersection of South Compton Avenue and Potomac Street just after 3:30 a.m. Sunday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.The victim, Iarvera Hale of Florissant, had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.A 16-year-old suspect was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to his leg. He remains listed in stable condition.Anyone with additional information on the investigation is asked to contact the city’s Homicide Division at 314-444-5371. Offense — FWhat is it going to take for the Broncos offense to start a second half in rhythm? They’ve deferred the coin toss each of the first five games this year and those half-openers have finished in four three-and-outs and a missed field goal. Sean Payton’s offense netted minus-16 yards on four third-quarter possessions against the Jets. Even two drives that stalled inside the New York 5-yard line in the first half looked pretty by comparison.Denver ran it all over New York early on and then did nothing — for long stretches literally less than nothing — most of the rest of the afternoon. Initial thoughts from Broncos’ 31-21 loss to the New York Jets in Week 5 at Empower Field at Mile High:Snowcapped helmets: It’s time. Time to bring back the D. It just feels right. 2 dead after violent crash in Downey

Two people are dead, and another was rushed to the hospital after a violent crash in Downey on Sunday.  Medical personnel with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to calls about the reported two-car collision at the intersection of Paramount Boulevard and Gardendale Street just after 2 p.m.  Authorities confirmed to KTLA that two victims were pronounced dead at the scene and a third person was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.  Wreckage of a fatal collision in Downey posted to the Citizen App on Oct. 8, 2023. CONCORD, N.C. — AJ Allmendinger spoiled NASCAR’s playoffs by winning Sunday’s elimination race on The Roval at Charlotte Motor Speedway, where Allmendinger is fantastic and wasn’t going to move over just because he’s not part of the championship field.Allmendinger, who is in his first full season of his Cup return, led 46 laps for Kaulig Racing to win for the first time in NASCAR’s top series since Indianapolis in 2021.
