Visitation held for fallen 19-year-old Rutland officer

RUTLAND, Vt. (NEWS10) -- Law enforcement from around Vermont gathered Monday to pay respects to the youngest Vermont police officer killed in the line of duty.Only July 7, Rutland City Officer Jessica Ebbighausen, 19, was killed in a crash while in pursuit of a stolen vehicle. Those who knew her said Ebbighausen wanted to become a police officer since she was nine years old.She dedicated much of her teenage life to serving her community and the Rutland Police Department. She was a few months shy of continuing training at the police academy. The Rutland city mayor spoke Monday on how the tragedy has impacted the community. Aurora won’t deploy officers to Denver during protests until Denver agrees to protect them from all liability

An agreement between Denver and Aurora that allowed the two cities to deploy their police officers to help each other during protests has been suspended after an Aurora City Council vote on Monday night.Aurora won’t be sending its officers to Denver, as it did during the 2020 racial justice protests after the killing of George Floyd, until Denver agrees to fully indemnify — or take on full legal responsibility — for Aurora officers’ actions during such events.The Aurora City Council voted in favor of the resolution, 5-4, with Councilmembers Ruben Medina, Alison Coombs, Juan Marcano and Curtis Gardner voting against it.While several of the members who opposed it said they believed Denver should indemnify Aurora’s officers after such events, a new Denver mayor was sworn in just hours before the meeting. Suspect arrested in South San Francisco armed robbery

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO – Authorities on Monday announced the arrest of a 30-year-old Eureka man in connection with an armed robbery at a South San Francisco convenience store.The robbery was reported around 10:30 a.m. on July 12 in the 1100 block of Mission Road, South San Francisco police Sgt. Amy Sariotti said in a news release. DENVER (KDVR) -- An 18-year-old man was arrested at Denver International Airport on Friday for his alleged connection to a known foreign terrorist group, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Colorado said Monday.Davin Daniel Meyer was charged with attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization. He made his first court appearance on Monday, according to the release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Colorado.
