MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Legislature on Wednesday passed a bipartisan plan to prevent Milwaukee from going bankrupt that also sends more state aid to every community in the state, a long-sought-after funding increase agreed to by Republican lawmakers and Democratic Gov. Tony Evers.The measure is part of a larger deal struck by Evers and Republican legislative leaders after months of talks that also increases K-12 education funding, including private voucher schools, by more than $1 billion. It was the highest profile deal reached between Evers, in the first year of his second term, and Republicans, who have found little common ground on most issues.The local government and education funding bills, which passed both the Senate and Assembly with bipartisan support, now head to Evers. Man, woman dead after being found shot in Geneva home

GENEVA, Ill. — A man and a woman are dead after suffering gunshot wounds inside a Geneva residence early Wednesday evening, according to Geneva Police Chief Eric Passarelli.Police said officers responded to a report of a gunshot at a home on Pebble Beach Court around 5:22 p.m. in Geneva. When police arrived, officers found two victims — a man and a woman — suffering from gunshot wounds.Firefighters removed both individuals from the residence and took them to an area hospital where they later died from their wounds.It is not clear who fired a gun, or how many people may have at this time. Cole Witherow defended his state title in near-perfect fashion. The New Life Academy senior won the Class A individual crown with a two-day score of 7-under-par 139, two shots better than Fillmore Central’s Jake Fishbaugher.He did so with clean golf. Entering the final round with a two-stroke lead, Witherow shot a bogey-free 69 Wednesday — one of the first bogey-free rounds of his young career.“It was pretty surprising, not going to lie,” he said.But not so much in the sense that Witherow has evolved over the past year in terms of his tactical approach. ST. LOUIS - Area police are now on alert for thieves using "AI,” or artificial intelligence. A man in Arnold said that thieves mimicked his son's voice and took $10,000 from his grandfather.Issues have progressed so far and so quickly that Congress is now taking action.The voice on the phone said there had been a crash in downtown St. Louis around 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. It sounded like Larry Jenkerson’s son, Jeremy, 23. The voice told Jeremy’s grandfather that he was injured. ST. LOUIS - If St. Louis Cardinals fans are looking for something to celebrate, the staff of Condado Tacos at Ballpark Village believes they can help. The restaurant is offering a giveaway on Thursday when it opens its doors to the public at 11 a.m.“The first 100 people through the door will get a free taco every week for a year,” said Lupe Hernandez, the restaurant’s general manager.The grand opening will also offer a free taco with a purchase and $5 signature margaritas.“Tacos and tequila bring everybody joy,” Hernandez said. “I haven’t meant somebody yet that doesn’t appreciate that.”The opening will be the restaurant’s 45th location and the first west of the Mississippi River. LOUIS - Top water officials in St. Louis said the city is in desperate need of infrastructure upgrades and repairs.The City of St. Louis granted FOX 2 team exclusive access to the St. Louis Water Treatment Plant on Wednesday."What you're hearing is water leaking from around the valves and piping in the plant here," said Kurt Skouby, director of public utilities for the City of St. Louis.
