(NEXSTAR) — Does the Texas summer have you in need of an escape? If you can't bear the thought of parting with the Lone Star State, there are still a few options for cities and towns that have slightly milder summers.It might not surprise you that Texas doesn't log many cities that are all that cool. In fact, NOAA data compiled by Stacker identified the coldest cities in all 50 states and found that Texas doesn’t even crack the top 150 coldest cities in America. Of the 266 studied, 171 have a colder average temperature. Where is the coldest city in Texas? Nevertheless, with an annual high of 71 degrees Fahrenheit, the Amarillo area can be far more temperate than other parts of Texas. Here are a few other cities that can keep their cool. Hit-and-run driver strikes fire hydrant, floods street in Porter Ranch

Police in Porter Ranch are searching for the driver who hit a fire hydrant and fled the scene early Saturday morning. Authorities responded to the intersection of Tampa and Wilbur Avenues around 1:30 a.m. to find water spraying high in the air and a wrecked, abandoned Dodge pickup truck sitting next to the hydrant. Police in Porter Ranch are searching for the driver who hit a fire hydrant and fled the scene early Saturday morning. (KRON) -- A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car Friday night in Fremont.The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. between Alvarado Boulevard and Merganser Drive. National Weather Service issues rip current warning, US Coast Guard patrols ahead of July 4

(KRON) – The Bay Area is expected to see a hot weekend which means a shift to the outdoors for many ahead of the July 4 holiday. The US Coast Guard will be conducting “Operation Dry Water” patrols which is a nationwide effort to enforce boating under the influence while inspecting the safety of boating equipment.
