Denver International Airport CEO Phil Washington on Monday blamed “unfounded partisan attacks” and obstruction tactics for sinking his nomination to lead the Federal Aviation Administration. He withdrew his name from consideration for FAA administrator late last week, in a development that became public Saturday night. For Washington, who was first nominated by President Joe Biden more than eight months ago, it was a frustrating end to a drawn-out process that included a combative confirmation hearing earlier this month.“It’s hard not to take it personally when people are making false accusations and taking cheap shots,” he said in an interview with The Denver Post. “However, I am a professional. None of this really surprised me.”Washington said he is committed to staying in the DIA job in the coming months — at least until the next Denver mayor decides whether to appoint a new chief executive after taking office in July. The military ve...Nuggets’ bench showing signs of life following statement win over Bucks

When Nikola Jokic headed to the bench late in the third quarter of Saturday’s statement win over the Bucks, there was no telling what type of game he’d return to early in the fourth quarter.Denver was up 90-83 with 2:07 left, which meant for a significant stretch, against the NBA’s best team, the Nuggets would have to hold their breath. Making the task even more precarious, the Bucks ran Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday against Jamal Murray and Denver’s bench. It could’ve been a recipe for disaster. It could’ve further raised alarms as the playoffs approach, suggesting Nuggets coach Michael Malone needed to shorten his already-thin bench.Instead, it yielded a galvanizing moment for a group trying to forge an identity. For roughly six minutes, Denver outscored Milwaukee 17-8. Jeff Green assumed the Antetokounmpo assignment and held his own. His efforts earned him a co-Defensive Player of the Game chain, along with Aaron Gordon, who also drew the assignment.Rookie Christian Braun...Cameron Patterson Dies in Speeding Collision on Madsen Avenue [Fresno, CA]
