San Diego County home sales down, prices up slightly in November: report

SAN DIEGO -- Home sales in San Diego County declined while prices up-ticked this month, according to a report.The Greater San Diego Association of REALTORS® (SDAR), a company that uses data from the San Diego Multiple Listing Service (SDMLS), released its study Monday showing single-family resale home sales, were down by more than 17% in November compared to October. The median price of single-family homes rose 2% to $980,000.Condominiums and townhomes sales, which were nearly 15% lower than last month, have a median price of $667,500, a 1% jump compared to October, according to SDAR. DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — A new compromise floated early Wednesday at United Nations COP28 climate talks called for the world to eventually wean itself off planet-warming fossil fuels in a global rallying cry stronger than proposed days earlier but with loopholes that upset critics.The new proposal doesn’t specifically use the language of calling for a “phase-out” of fossil fuels, which more than 100 nations had pleaded for. Instead, it calls for “transitioning away from fossil fuels in energy systems, in a just, orderly and equitable manner, accelerating action in this critical decade.” The transition would be in a way that gets the world to net zero greenhouse gas emissions in 2050 and follows the dictates of climate science. Brother of former Harvey mayor convicted in strip club shakedown

HARVEY, Ill.  — The brother of former south suburban Mayor Eric Kellogg has been convicted of shaking down operators of a strip club in Harvey.After a week-long trial, a jury convicted 71-year-old Rommell Kellog, a Harvey Resident, of obtaining money by threat from the strip club.According to the U.S. Attorney's Office of the Northern District of Illinois, Kellog was convicted on five counts, including conspiracy to commit theft and intimidation and causing the use of facilities in interstate commerce to promote theft and intimidation.The conviction was announced in a press release sent out on Tuesday afternoon. MADISON, Tenn. (WKRN) — An elderly cat survived a devastating tornado in Tennessee over the weekend and will be reunited with its owner, who was out of town during the storm. The feline, named Sandy, was found curled up in some bedding near a home in Madison, a Nashville suburb where three people were killed Saturday afternoon in the tornado.Nashville resident Erica Williams said she was scrolling through Facebook on Sunday when she stumbled upon her friend's livestream, which showed the storm damage in Madison. A former chief prosecutor in central Minnesota’s Benton County was acquitted Friday of two counts of second-degree sexual conduct after a two-week jury trial in Mille Lacs County.Former County Attorney Philip Kent Miller, 63, was previously charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct, according to a complaint filed in July 2021.Those charges alleged Miller of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl once in March 2020 and another instance a month or two later, according to court documents. Violent collision flips St. Louis police vehicle; officers not seriously injured

LOUIS – Two St. Louis police officers were not seriously injured after their vehicle was flipped over following a violent collision at a north city intersection.The crash happened just after 8:30 p.m. in The Ville neighborhood, at North Sarah Street and St. Louis Avenue.Police claim a white Nissan was traveling north on Sarah, blew through a stop sign, and smashed into a squad car traveling west on St. Louis.The force of the impact rolled the police car onto its roof, coming to a rest in front of a convenience store.The driver of the Nissan was not seriously injured. Authorities are searching for a young mother and her baby after they disappeared in South Los Angeles on Sunday.The critically missing juveniles were identified as Nevaeh Lorane Martinez, 13, and her two-week-old son, D’Angelo Hill. They were last seen on Dec. 10 on the 1000 block of W. 100th Street around noontime, according to the L.A.
